The cooling layer
The gel inside the bed is a phase-change material. When your dog lies down, body heat doesn't warm the bed — it gets absorbed as the gel softens from a solid-like state toward liquid.
That transition is called latent heat: the gel soaks up huge amounts of energy at near-constant temperature. No freezer. No power. Just thermodynamics doing the work — every day, all summer.
